02/04/2011 Stoke v Team Viking
Excellent start to the season at Loomer Road with Tim top scoring with 10 from 4 rides. An eventful night culminated in Tim winning the best race of the night in Heat 13 followed home by the ever exciting Jason Garrity. Tim took a bit of a tumble when he was well placed in heat 7 and Alexander Edberg clashed with him on the back straight - unfortunately this resulted in Tims first bike sustaining match ending damage. The second bike performed amiably although fitted with the enhanced FIM approved silencer with two wins from his last two rides - a great start.
07/04/2011 Birmingham Bulls v USA Touring team
Tim continued his superb start to the season by top scoring for Birmingham's Junior team against a vastly experienced USA select team at Perry Barr. Tims only defeat came at the hands of the tourists number 1 Eddie Castro a defeat he avenged by lowering the Americans colours in a thrilling last bend swoop in heat 15. Indeed Tim had previously been involved in the race of the night in passing Doug Nicol in heat 3 when there seemed little room to pass. The awesome start to the season continues!
09/04/2011 Stoke v Dudley Heathens (Challenge)
Some very exciting racing at Stoke on Saturday with Tim scoring 7 from 5 rides. Tim was unhappy with his performance at this meeting, insisting that he should have 'got more points'. He had some tough heats that were close run from the tapes to the finish. Tim said his engine needs some fine tuning and wasn't running as well as he would have liked. As a spectator I for one, thoroughly enjoyed this meeting which ended in a 45-45 draw, excellent result for the fans! Chin up Tim, don't beat yourself up.....'twas a good night!
15/04/2011 Plymouth Devils v USA Touring team
This evening Tim rode for the Plymouth Devils against the USA touring team and notched up another 9 points for his evenings work. This was Tim's first ride for the Premier League team this season and settled in really well.
16/04/2011 Stoke v Scunthorpe (Challenge)
Another awesome performance from Tim tonight at Stoke despite the meeting being delayed for over 50 minutes after the first race, when the tape magnets failed. The rest of the night was started by the use of an elastic band! This failed to faze Tim who went on to score a blistering 14 points from 5 only being denied his maximum by Luke Priest in heat 15. Solid consistent performance from the whole team. Well done lads and good luck at Newport tomorrow.
17/04/2011 Stoke v Newport (NL)(Away)
Tim is an ex Newport asset and had no problem finding his way round this familiar track and rode well with a win in his 3rd race, a 2nd in his second and a 1st in his first race. There was a 45 minute delay during the meeting when Stoke's Ben Reade has a nasty fall in heat 9. The meeting finished with a win for Stoke over Newport 50 - 43
22/04/2011 Stoke v Hackney (NL)(Away)
Another high scoring meeting for Tim, who walked away with an impressive haul of 14 points, from three wins, a 3rd and a 2nd whilst wearing the tactical helmet in heat 13, having been beaten to the tapes by Marc Owen. Despite a terrific performance the Hackney Hawks beat Stoke 53 - 41.
01/05/2011 Stoke v Buxton (KO Cup 1st leg)(Away)
Tim scored 10 points form 5 races today with 3 wins a third and a fall in heat 9. Tim ran up one of the fastest times of the day completing the track in 57.8. The meeting was a very close run thing with Stoke loosing by just one point 45- 44, despite the best efforts of the Stoke team. The match was lost in a thrilling heat 15 decider which the re-run was won by Tim, after Garrity (guesting for Simon Lambert for the Potters) was excluded after falling whilst in 3rd spot. The minor places were picked up by the Buxton lads.....good night for Stoke with all the riders doing well.
Good luck to The Potters for the 2nd leg at Stoke next Saturday 7th May. (Many thanks to Andy Hancock for pointing out my mistake!!!)
07/05/2011 Stoke v Buxton (KO Cup 2nd leg)(Home)
Stoke made a very impressive start against The Hitmen during which Tim won the one and only ride he took part in. Unfortunately the meeting was abandoned due to rain!
20/05/2011 Plymouth v Workington (Premier League)
Riding at reserve during this meeting Tim scored 2 points from 3 rides. He will say himself he found this a hard step up but I'm sure neutrals will agree he was never off the pace. He enjoyed the meeting and looks forward to his next invitation to ride Premier League, which will come sooner rather than later as Tim has been asked to ride for Birmingham's Premier league team against Leicester in a challenge at Perry Barr, Sunday 29/05/2011.
21/05/2011 Stoke v Mildenhall Fen Tigers (NL)(Home)
A great evenings entertainment with Tim scoring 13 from 5 rides, helping the Stoke Easy Rider Potters to convincingly beat the Fen Tigers 57 -36. The evening started for Tim in race 4 when he was knocked off his bike on the first bend from the tapes by Mildenhall's Jack Hargreaves. All 4 riders came back to the tapes for the re-start and Tim took the lead from the start, being pressed hard by Lewis Blackbird, and despite riding the boards a little too much for my liking (heart in the mouth moment) went on to win the heat convincingly. Fen Tigers Danny Halsey lowered Tims colours in Heat 7 with Tims Bike losing power later diagnosed as carb problems. In heat 11 Tim was pursued and overhauled by Mildenhall Number 1 James Brundle on a tactical ride. This only proved to be a blip as he made no mistake in winning his last two rides in style securing his fifth double figure haul for the Potters this season.
28/05/2011 Stoke Eazy-Rider Potters v Sheffield/Scunthorpe Tigers Tim top scored again this afternoon scoring 13 from 5 rides during the 49-41 win at home against Scunthorpe. Tim won his four heats and managed 1 point from heat 15 behind Simon Lambert and Gary Irving. He managed the second quickest time of the afternoon in heat 7 coming in at 64 seconds dead. On it all day, Tim had another great meeting. 29/05/2011 Birmingham Brummies v Leicester Breedon Aggregates Lions Tim rode at reserve at Perry Barr for Birmingham Brummies, being forced to ride on his reserve bike owing to problems with his engine on his favourite machine. He managed 4 plus 1 from four rides, clocking up two second places. Tim then went on to ride in The John Bailey Memorial race which took place after the Brummies v Lions meeting. During this meeting (Birmingham Bulls v Long Eaton) Tim won every one of his 3 races top scoring with a total of 9 points. Well done tim 04/06/2011 Stoke v Buxton Hitmen (KO cup 2nd round (re-run)) Bad start for the meeting for Tim as his engine blew up on the stand whilst warming up before the meeting got underway. Both he and his mechanic had a manic time setting up his spare bike in order for him to be able to race this afternoon. Tim riding at his usual number 5, lost his first race to Robert Branford, but, together with Ben Reade cleaned up in heat 7 during which Luke Priest was taking a tactical ride for the Hitmen. Great racing by Tim and Ben. Heat 11 saw Tim winning again, beating Jason Garrity and Dean Felton. Heat 13 Tim came in second again to Robert Branford. Tim lead this heat from the gate but was passed by Robert on the back straight in the 3rd lap, who then went on to win the race. Tim says his second bike which he was forced to ride this afternoon lacks the speed and power of his preferred bike, which had blown up! Jamie Pickard top scored this meeting with a paid 15 max with Tim scoring 10 from 4 rides. Stoke won the meeting easily against a poor performing Buxton side, 57-35 giving them an overall score of 101-80 over the two legs. Tim next rides at Belle Vue on Wednesday 8th June 2011. Good Luck!! (Rained Off) 26/06/2011 Stoke v Dudley Heathens (KO cup 1st round) Despite not having had a meeting since 4/06/2011 The Stoke Eazy-riders came out and showed The Dudley Heathens just how to take a race by the scruff of the neck and produced a dazzling performance in the searing heat! This meeting was delayed by over 2 hours by the lack of a Paramedic being available which, in the soaring heat of the day, unsettled all the riders who were already in 'the zone' and ready for tapes up at 3pm, however, whilst The Heathens appeared to have 'not turned up', The Eazy-Riders took it all in their stride. Outstanding performances by all the team which saw Tim scoring 11 points from 4 rides. He won his first two heat easily, notched up a 2nd in his 3rd heat during which The Heathens' Jon Armstrong made life difficult for Tim by closing the gate at every opportunity to not allow him past, and another win in his last heat. Tim has the second fasted time of the day at 63.6 in his first heat, the fastest time going to James Sargent in heat number 2 (63.2) The boys had 7 5-1's during this meeting too! Fantastic day for Stoke supports, who turned out in force.......final score 62-32, which gives the Eazy-Riders a 30 point lead to take to Monmore Wood on Tuesday! Think you've got this one in the bag boys!!! 28/06/2011 Stoke v Dudley Heathens (Away)(KO cup 2nd round) Stoke arrive at Monmore Wood with a heathly 30 point lead but The Heathen lads are no pushover on their own track and have not been beaten at 'home' all season, so tonight was going to be a tough meeting. After the performance at Stoke, the lads were eager to make amends and put Stoke back in their place! The meeting started well with a 5-1 to Stoke in the first heat. Things began to level up after this and was a close run meeting all night with only a few points separating the teams all night. Tim did not have so good a meeting. His engine set-up was all wrong and fell in his first heat despite making an awesome gate leaving the rest standing. He had problems on the 1st bend as he went into the 3rd lap and seemed to just spin on the spot, causing him to come crashing down. He was excluded and the heat re-run. He was next up in his second heat against Richard Franklin and Jon Armstrong, but despite making the gate was picked off by Rich Franklin down the back straight, followed by Armo, leaving Tim to trail in 3rd, much to his disapointment. Back to the pits for some engine alterations saw Tim back out in heat 9, his 3rd race of the evening. Awesome gating again saw him out in front against Ashley Morris and Tom Perry but again, due to his set up not being right, his bike spun on the spot on the 1st bend, pretty much in the same place where he came off in heat 1. This time Tim crashed to the floor and was down for some time. He was taken to the ambulance by Paramedics who wanted to take Tim to the hospital due to the crack on the head he sustained during the fall, but Tim didn't want to leave the meeting and declined the offer. Suffering with a huge bump to the head (headache), grazing to his left hip and shoulder, he was withdrawn from the meeting. Not how Tim would have liked to have ended the evening but despite being beaten by The Heathens 47-43, Stoke sailed through to the next round of the KO Cup. Excellent team effort!!! Good luck lads in the Final. Just to let you know that I have not updated the results in this section as I have not been able to attend every meeting and not able to therefore, provide an accurate account of what happened. I can however refer you to the Stoke speedway page on Facebook that has a report on every meeting. The link is that which is shown below....... |
