INTRODUCTION An interest in speedway has been in the Webster family since 1970 when Tims dad first visited Coventry Bees speedway in the Midlands. Tims dad went to Olle Nygrens 2 day training school in 1978 to experience the thrill of speedway but was unable to progress because of work commitments. Tim first became interested in speedway at the age of 6 following it regularly on the television and visiting local tracks in the Midlands.
Tim moved to live in Devon when he was 4 years old. He has 2 brothers, Nathan (20), Luke (17) and 1 sister, Rachel (16). He lives with the mum, Jackie and his dad and mechanic Mark.
In October 2003, Tim also attended Olle Nygrens 2 day training school in Kings Lynn. A trip down memory lane for his dad, even staying at the same guest house. Tim took to a speedway bike from day 1. This weekend followed by the purchase of a GM 500cc speedway bike from Ray Purvis, promoter of Trelawny Tigers. Ray was a great support and we utilised the last 3 training schools at St Austell before the track sadly closed down.
Tim then moved his regular training to Weymouth and Newport with Tim favouring Weymouth. With the guidance and encouragement of Steve Piper and all the regulars at the Friday night training schools, Tim progressed rapidly.
In December 2003, Tim acquired his second GM 500cc speedway bike from Malcolm Holloway which had been his 2003 premier league bike.
Also in December 2003 Tim linked up with Interspan speedway training schools. Tim attended an interspan training school in January 2004 led by Nicki Pedersen, the 2003 world champion. Tim took part in a 4 team tournament and his team won! Tim was joint top scorer with Joe Reynolds. Other team members were Matt Bates and Nick Mallet. Nicki presented the trophies.
In February 2004 Tim was fortunate enough to find himself under the guidance of Phil Morris, the premier league captain of Reading racers (at the time). Phil is a gifted trainer and has helped Tim enormously.
In February 2004 Tim also applied for entry to the 2004 under 15's British Championship and has been accepted as a nominated rider at Weymouth.
In March 2004 Tim started in the under 15's second halves at Weymouth together with George Piper, Matt Bates and Sam Hurst. There has been some very exciting battles between George and Tim.
2005 saw Tim continue his progress under the watchful eye of Phil Morris. Tim competed in the British Academy League and top scored for his team at Scunthorpe. He also rode for the Great Britain Under 16's at Somerset and top scored.
2006 saw Tims entry to the Conference League riding for the Newport Mavericks. It was a good learning experience. During this last winter Tim has focussed on improving his skills with the assistance of mentor Phil Morris. He is now looking forward to riding for his home town of Plymouth in the 2007 Conference League.
Tims ambition is to become a professional speedway rider. He is currently sponsored by Penhale Quantock, Somerset, Perrys Builders Merchants and Spectrum car body repairs, Saltash.
Tims role models are Jason Crump, Nicki Pedersen and Phil Morris.
